- About OMG! -
CDQ is a beatboxer from Malaysia, in 2009 we battled each other in a beatbox tournament before, after the tournament I haven't heard any news from him anymore. Later in 2015 at a festival he approach me, I was very surprised to him there. He told that he moved to Seattle, USA. He is really making his name in the neighbourhood of Seattle. We hooked up again and from CDQ I got to know Essam Muhammad because they always does music together 100% vocals. I contacted CDQ in mid-2016 saying I wanted to do some tracks with you just beatboxing. I gave him a rough track which I recorded it in mid-2014, it was mellow sounding and half time, somewhat hip hop influenced. I told CDQ do record some of your beatbox library and send it to me from there I can arrange something to it. While I am producing and composing this I wasn't feeling the track. I changed the tempo and the end result was Electro, you can still listen to the half time at the end of this track. "Oh My God" vocal was CDQ's inward voice. It fits perfectly. Trung Bao is a World Beatbox Camp Champion, Top 8 in Asia Beatbox Championship & Beatbox Shootout, Vice Champion in American Beatbox Championship and Top 4 in Grand Beatbox Battle, overall a world class beatboxer from Vietnam, very well known in worldwide beatboxing communities. Trung Bao came to Malaysia to judge a beatbox battle. I was a participant in that tournament, if I don't battle I just wanted to perform there. I brought my recording equipment nonetheless. After the battle, we hanged out at a mamak place nearby KLCC, which NZ. We had dinner and it was fun. I told him I am working on a beatbox album. I took my laptop and my recording equipment and let him listen to this track. I ask him I want you to feature in my album and he said yes. We had a recording session at NZ dinner table. I record all Trung Bao's beatbox library and he did a freestyle. Then I let it digest for a while, I said to myself instead of having the same drop on the 2nd part, why not I switch into something different. I used Trung Bao's recording session and arranged according to the tempo. The track happened nicely. I don't to title the track, "Oh My God!" because it reminds me also the people who are into beatbox might know FaithSFX's "Oh My" track which also using water drop sounds. This track wasn't influenced by him or copying him. It was totally a coincidence in terms of sounds and naming the track, however, the way I produced and arranged this took different perspective and style.
